Nickelodeon Latin America Orders New Go-Kart-Themed Drama Series "Formula A"

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) has announced the exciting news that it has ordered Formula A (working title, 60x'60), a brand-new teen drama series inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet that follows two kart racers who fall in love despite their families’ rivalry!

Created by Carlos Jiménez-Pons and produced by Somos Productions, Formula A will be filmed at Viacom International Studios (VIS), the production hub for Viacom International Media Networks Americas, and on location in Miami, and is slated to debut regionally on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica during the the third quarter of this year (3Q07).

Formula A will star established and new pan-regional actors, including: Samantha Siqueros (Along Came Love, Como Dice el Dicho), Maite Embil (¿Quién es Quién?, Voltea pa' que te enamores), the niece of famed Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, and Stefano Ollivier (Estefano Ollivier), who will make his TV debut with the series, from Mexico; Josette Vidal (winner of two Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards blimps for her role as 'Sara Fuccinelli' in Toni La Chef), Angela Rincón (Grachi, Toni la Chef), Yul Burkel (Silvana Sin Lana), and Ana Karina Manco (La Mujer Perfecta) from Venezuela; Vanessa Blandon (Isa TKM, Chica Vampiro) from Colombia, and Saúl Lisazo (Señorita Pólvora) from Argentina.

"Nickelodeon has always been innovative in its content encompassing different genres and themes in its youth series," said Tatiana Rodriguez, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Nickelodeon Group Americas. "Formula A is an unprecedented story for Nick's screen that tells the story of two charismatic and brave go-kart drivers who live their lives to the limit. Without doubt, the plot and aesthetics of the series will offer a fresh look to this genre and will captivate our audience in Latin America."

"Nickelodeon siempre ha sido innovador en su contenido abarcando diferentes géneros y argumentos en sus series juveniles", comentó Tatiana Rodriguez, SVP de Nickelodeon Group Americas. "Formula A es una historia sin precedente para la pantalla de Nick que relata la historia de dos carismáticos y valientes pilotos de karting que viven sus vidas al límite. Sin duda, la trama y la estética de la serie ofrecerá una mirada fresca a este género y cautivará a nuestra audiencia en Latinoamérica".

Produced by Somos Productions for Nickelodeon Latinoamérica and created by Eduardo Jiménez-Pons (Carlos Jiménez-Pons), the series gives a fun new twist to the story of Romeo y Julieta, taking it to the race track of Ciudad del Este, where Max and Victoria compete and fall in love despite the rivalry between their two families. Both run as they are; Max is a serious and methodical boy, while Victoria is impulsive and mischievous. On the track they are rivals, but outside the world of go-karting, they are inseparable. It is a dangerous sport, but the real danger is to fall in love with your competition!

Formula A is Nickelodeon Latinoamérica's latest teen series inspired by a classic novel, following the greenlight of Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa, a new live-action teen series inspired by the 1880 novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri, in 2016, which is set to debut on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica later this year.
