'Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows' Intro Teases Return of Iconic Character

That's SarDO! No mister; accent on the doh!

The opening titles for Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows tease the return of an iconic character from the original '90s Are You Afraid of the Dark? series!

Appearing at approximately 15 seconds into the intro, fans can spot a shop sign for Sardo's Magic Mansion, which, in the original '90s series, was owned by the mysterious and mischievous Sardo!

It's currently unknown what role Sardo will have in Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows, if any - it could just be an Easter Egg for long time fans of the series. however, we do know that one of the cast of the season season of the revival, Seth (Dominic Mariche) likes magic, and another scene from the intro teases a Ouija board.

One of the more significant recurring characters of the original series, Sardo, owner of "Sardo's Magic Mansion" (a magic shop). He would often attempt to sell a character a "prized" item, succeeding almost every single time. He often had items in his shop that contained real properties of magic, yet did not know until it was revealed in the story.

Richard M. Dumont as Sardo.

Additionally, when selling someone an item, he would often ask a rather high price. The main character would mention how much money they had, and Sardo would grab the money saying, "But I'm losing on the deal." Although he rarely got what he wanted, he would often end up helping the characters, often unintentionally.

Appearing in eight episodes, including "The Tale of the Super Specs," he mainly featured in Gary's (Ross Hull) stories, although in the later seasons, he appeared in two of Tucker's (Daniel DeSanto) and one of David's (Nathaniel Moreau).

One of the most memorable recurring jokes in the series occurred when someone would address him as "Mr. Sardo." He would then get irritated and exclaim: "That's SarDO! No mister; accent on the doh!"

In the original series, Sardo was portrayed by Canadian actor Richard M. Dumont. However, it's currently unknown whether Dumont will be reprising his fan-favorite role for season two of the revival.

Update (2/12) - In "Curse of the Shadows", Sardo is played by Ryan Beil.
