Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell Reveal 'Good Burger' Sequel in the Works

Nickelodeon alum Kenan Thompson has revealed that there are plans to put a Good Burger sequel have already been put into motion - more than 20 years after the original movie was released!

Speaking on HappE! Hour, the Saturday Night Live legend told E!'s Scott Tweedie that "It's in the works."

"Yeah, it's in the works," said. "I mean, it's all in talks. So hopefully the numbers can match up to everybody's expectations and we can get it done. But yeah, there's talks being had, I guess, is all I can say about that."

Based on the iconic All That sketch, the film stars Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson as employees of Good Burger, a run-down fast-food restaurant. The movie follows the duo's meatheaded adventures while they try and stop the competition, Mondo Burger, from stealing Ed's secret sauce recipe. Guest stars include Carmen Electra, Sinbad, and Shaquille O'Neal.

It's been a couple of years since we last heard that a sequel to Good Burger was in the works, and since then, Nickelodeon has revived their iconic '90s sketch show All That featuring a new cast of fresh faces, executive produced by Kenan and Kel. Along with executive producing, Kenan and Kel, along with other legacy cast members, have made special appearances on the revived series, and Ed has even reprised his iconic Ed the Good Burger Guy role.

Since its release in 1997, Good Burger has remained a fan-favorite, and has fans spanning across multiple generations. There has even been a Good Burger-themed pop-up restaurant, which offered fans the chance to sample Good Burgers and Good Shakes, as well as a host of photo ops, and the iconic Good Burger car has been faithfully restored. Famous fans of the movie include fellow Nickelodeon alum Ariana Grande.

There’s actually a Good Burger sequel in the form of a book called Good Burger 2 Go, where somebody forgets their change and Ed follows them across the country to get it back to them.

Update (12/17) - In an exclusive interview with Film Daily, Kel Mitchell confirmed that a Good Burger sequel was in the pipeline, with everyone from the original move - including writers and producers - meeting up to try and put a film together. Everyone involved wants to make sure its good for fans old and new, including the new generation of All That stars. Kenan and Kel are both down, and they're aiming to get everyone else from the original movie on-board, too.

Kel also revealed that he and Kenan want to do something special for fans!

Kel also talks about how he's proud to be part of Nickelodeon's legacy, and reveals that Coach Kreeton's voice was based on one of his real high school coaches who was mean to everybody! You can watch Kel's fantastic interview at filmdaily.co.
