Chance The Rapper On Fatherhood, Kanye, Faith And Loneliest Moments | TODAY

Chance the Rapper sits down with Al Roker to talk about his rise to fame, his loneliest moments, and the importance of family and faith in his life. Chance also announces that he will be the next host of the Kids' Choice Awards on Nickelodeon.

From Billboard:

Chance the Rapper to Host Nick Kids' Choice Awards: See Some of the Nominees

Chance the Rapper is coming to play. The Grammy winner will host the 2020 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, and he's counting the days until he can get doused in the green stuff. "I'm due for a sliming," he says.

Chance's slime aspirations date back to a trip to Universal Studios as a kid when he and his brother participated in a game at an attraction based on The Wild Thornberrys. "We won, and we didn't get to get slimed," he says. "My grandmother took us, and she said that was not allowed. So it's just something that I've been wanting to get."

Then last year, Chance won in the favorite collaboration category for "No Brainer" along DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber and Quavo, but was unable to make the event due to a prior commitment. "Last year I wanted to be at the KCAs to accept my awards and I wasn't able to be there," he says. "So my slime meter is low right now, you know what I mean."

Billboard got a head's up on some of the big music categories for this year's show, which will air Sunday, March 22. Favorite music group contenders are Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, Panic! At The Disco and the Chainsmokers.

City Girls, DaBaby, Lewis Capaldi, Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion are vying for the title of favorite breakout new artist, while the favorite music collaboration noms are "10,000 Hours," Justin Bieber & Dan + Shay; "I Don't Care," Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber; "Me!," Taylor Swift featuring Brendon Urie; "Old Town Road (Remix)," Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus; "Señorita," Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello; and "Sunflower," Post Malone & Swae Lee.

The KCA hosting gig isn't Chance's first foray into the Nick family. He reworked the theme song to the All That reboot, and he hinted to Billboard there may be more projects to come.

Does he have a favorite host from KCAs past? "DJ Khaled. He excites people and he's always having fun. If I had to pick a [host] to emulate, it would be him," says The Big Day rapper.

But Chance says he'll be bringing a vibe all his own: "I think of myself as a hilarious guy. I'm probably in the top 10 funny people I know. So I'll be bringing hilarity, and definitely more jokes."

This year's KCAs will culminate a weekend of Slimefest performances, which for the past two years have been held in Chicago. This year's lineup incudes JoJo Siwa, Why Don't We, French Montana and Blanco Brown.
