Trends UK to Launch 'Paddington' Early Learning Toys

TRENDS UK TO LAUNCH PADDINGTON EARLY LEARNING TOYS

The educational toys will introduce young fans to early learning skills such as recognising colours, numbers, letters and early spelling.

Items will begin to appear late 2020, with further products scheduled to follow into 2021.

"We are delighted to be developing learning items based on this lovable bear and his world" commented Lindsay Hardy, Marketing Director of Trends UK. "The narrative of Paddington's experiences with his family, friends and home will definitely appeal to pre-schoolers and parents, the TV series looks fantastic!"

Rachel Clarke, SVP Licensing and Retail UK at The Copyrights Group said "I am delighted that Trends are joining the Paddington Licensing program with their range of Electronic learning toys. We believe Paddington TV is a great new adventure for the brand and are pleased to be working with Trends to bring their fabulous Paddington TV lines to the UK market."

The Adventures of Paddington will make it's world debut in the U.S. on Monday, Jan. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT), following a sneak peek on Friday, Dec. 20, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Following its U.S. launch, The Adventures of Paddington will roll out on the net’s international channels and branded blocks beginning March 2020, including on Nick Jr. UK & Ireland.

In additional news, Paddington will be featured in a dynamic trail of interactive bronze statues that will grace London's Leicester Square from early 2020, celebrating the capital's rich movie history and exciting future! 'Scenes in the Square' is a unique cultural initiative by the Heart of London Business Alliance in partnership with Westminster City Council and major film studios. A creative expression of the past hundred years of movie magic, the long-term art installation will feature highly recognisable classic and contemporary film characters, each immortalised in interactive and highly expressive bronze statues, many brought to life in the evening through lighting. Paddington will represent the 2010's on the trail, and visitors to Leicester Square gardens will be able to sit on a bench and have lunch beside this marmalade loving star of the two BAFTA-nominated films. Paddington will be joined by: Laurel and Hardy (representing the 1920s to 1940s), who starred in over 100 films together, including Liberty (1929) which is the inspiration for the daring stunt that will see their statues playfully teetering on a rooftop; Looney Tunes' Bugs Bunny (representing the 1940s), who will grace a nearby flower bed; Gene Kelly, immortalised on a lamppost from the timeless dance sequence in Singin' in the Rain (representing the 1950s); Mary Poppins will appear to land gracefully in Leicester Square gardens (representing 1960s cinema); the 1980s are represented by the timeless feel-good moment of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial flying over the moon in Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic. The magical scene will be installed above the Odeon Luxe roof; Also gracing Leicester Square's rooftops will be Batman, the Caped Crusader keeping watch over London from the roof of the Cineworld Cinema and Empire Casino; Completing the trail and representing the 2020s and the bright future of cinema, will be Gal Gadot's powerful Wonder Woman, bursting dynamically through the Vue Cinema wall, celebrating the June 2020 release of Wonder Woman 1984.
