BoxLunch Announces Exclusive 'Avatar: The Last Airbender 6 Inch Flocked Appa Funko Pop!' Figure

Yip yip! BoxLunch has announced the exciting news that it is partnering with Funko to release the Avatar: The Last Airbender 6 Inch Flocked Appa Funko Pop! figure very soon!

Update (9/22) - The figure will go on sale at approximately 8:30pm PST (11:30pm EST) tonight, September 21st!

This Pop! features Appa, Aang's loyal sky bison, who shared a strong bond with Aang and with Momo, as they were all some of the few remaining traces of the Air Nomad civilisation. At a whopping 6" on length, this Pop! truly encompasses the size of Appa, topped off with a realistic flocked fur finish!

Truly one of the coolest Pop! Vinyl releases of 2019, don't miss out on adding the 6" Flocked Appa to your Funko collection today.

A release date for the Avatar: The Last Airbender 6 Inch Flocked Appa Funko Pop! figure (production number 643) is yet to be announced, but it will be available in the U.S. exclusively at BoxLunch, and will also be available internationally, including in Australia at Popcultcha. The Australian price for the figure is AU$49.99.

Funko commented on the first look at the Appa Pop on their official Twitter account, humorously letting out Aang's patented "Yip Yip" which is Appa's cue for moving as fast as he could as the large bison jettisoned itself through the air:

Appa was a "sky bison", big enough to hold all the protagonists of Avatar: The Last Airbender on his back. While the larger than life mammal didn't necessarily speak English, it was clear that he had a very good understanding of key phrases as well as the emotions and situations that were running rampant throughout the series' episode count. Though the true tragedy of Appa was, much like Aang, he was the last of his kind as the deep freeze the pair went under that landed them into their future had them awaken to a world where both Airbenders and Sky Bison were a thing of the past.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender 6 Inch Flocked Appa Funko Pop! figure follows Funko releasing a "normal-sized" Appa Funko Pop! figure being released as part of Funko's Avatar: The Last Airbender Pop! Animation range earlier this year.

The news also comes hot-on-the-heels of Funko announcing their Avatar: Cabbage Man & Cart Pop! Figure NYCC 2019 Exclusive.

BoxLunch is also currently selling Funko Avatar: The Last Airbender FunkO's Cereal with Pocket Pop! Appa Cereal, a tasty multigrain cereal that makes breakfast time so much more epic. Each box comes with an adorable Pocket Pop! of your favorite sky bison from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Fans can also find Appa-inspired apparel and accessories. Also available are jersey designs which include soccer-style and hype jerseys with Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads styles.

There isn't a better time than now to start unveiling new merchandise as Netflix, the method in which the new live action adaption of the series is being brought to life, is continuing to move toward unveiling the next visit to the world of Aang and his friends in their "bending world". Seeing this "flocked" version of Appa, meaning a much younger, group oriented Sky Bison, will add another great addition to those giant fanatics of Avatar: The Last Airbender!

One of the great things about shopping at BoxLunch, aside from feeling like a kid again, is that for every $10 spent on the pop culture-themed collection, BoxLunch will provide a free meal to someone in need through its partnership with Feeding America. So if you buy tee or hat, you can feel extra good about your purchase, knowing that you helped contribute to a philanthropic cause!

Avatar: The Last Airbender aired for 61 episodes over three seasons originally on Nickelodeon, where it began in February 2005 and concluded in July 2008. The series was nominated for—and won—Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award. Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko also created a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, that returned to the world of Avatar years after Aang’s death to follow Korra, his successor as Avatar. That series ran between 2012-2014.

The stories of both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have continued on in graphic novel series, with a live-action adaption of the original series currently in the works at Netflix from original creators DiMartino and Konietzko, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers.
