Nickelodeon Greece Premieres All-New 'Gormiti' Animated Series

Nickelodeon Greece (Ελλάδα) today, Saturday 1st June 2019 premiered Gormiti, a brand new 3D CGI action–comedy television series based on global phenomenon Gormiti, created by Giochi Preziosi, at 20:30! Following today's debut, new episodes of Gormiti, locally titled Gormiti: Ο θρύλος ζωντανεύει (Gormiti: The Legend Comes to Life) will continue to air Saturdays at 20:30 on Nickelodeon Ελλάδα.

In the all-new Gormiti series (52 x 11-minute episodes), when four kids - Riff (Gormiti of Fire), Ikor (Gormiti of Ice), Trek (Gormiti of Rock), and Eron (Gormiti of Wind) - each representing a different elemental tribe of their homeland Gorm, discover the hidden One Tower it is as if all their heroic dreams suddenly became reality. Together with the One Tower they had also found the Elemental Bracers, which allows them to call and fight with the legendary Gormiti. But the Tower revealed itself for a reason: the Darkans, Gormiti ancestral enemies, are back, threatening all living beings in Gorm. Unprepared, the kids need to learn how to become true heralds. With the help of Ao-Ki, a Light Girl who has been tasked to train them, the new heroes will master the Elemental Bracers, call the legendary Gormiti of the corresponding elements to fight on their behalf, and save their world. Standing in their way is Voidus, leader of the evil Darkans who are looking to escape their shadowy world of Darkor and conquer Gorm. Gormiti is a series about team work, friendship, achieving goals and having fun! The brand-new Gormiti TV series is aimed towards boys 5-8.

The Gormiti phenomenon was born in 2005 as a collection of colourful and highly detailed toys manufactured by Giochi Preziosi, becoming really fast the leading boys action property throughout Europe, and distributed in over 50 countries. More than 500 million figures have been sold with a result of €1.5 Billion ($1.85 million) in retail Sales. The animation in the new series is equally bright and colourful, with polished edges and top-notch voice acting that Planeta hopes will hook young fans of the toys straight away.

Gormiti is produced by Planeta Junior and Barcelona-based Kotoc (producer of international TV projects such as Sendokai Champions and Mutant Busters), with the former holding worldwide TV and Consumer Product licensing rights on the series. Giochi Preziosi is the global master toy for the show. The series is being written by a team of international writers headed by LA-based Romain Van Liemt, creator of the show, the animation series is developed by Kotoc.

“Gormiti is one of the most important brands here in Giochi Preziosi, a historical property that gifted kids all around the world with hours of fun. Everybody is thrilled at the idea of this reboot – the partnership with Planeta Junior and Kotoc has breathed new life in Gormiti and we hope to create a new era of amazing heroes” says Dario Bertè, CEO at Giochi Preziosi S.p.A.

“It is an opportunity, but also a great responsibility, to create a new Gormiti story that lives up to the expectations of millions of children around the world. At Giochi Preziosi they are very aware of this, so that’s why we have set up an experienced team, who knows the IP very well – and in many cases they are even fans – that I believe is creating some of the best Gormiti chapters ever”. says Diego Ibáñez, International Commercial Director at Planeta Junior.

Freddy C. Schwaneberg, CEO at Kotoc says “At Kotoc, we love creating and telling stories because not so long ago we were kids too, watching mesmerized as our favorite characters had the most amazing adventures. When we were approached to make the new Gormiti series a reality, we couldn’t think of a better way to honor the property and make it an even more awesome experience – for all the kids who will grow up with it, just like we did.”

To celebrate the all-new animated series, a new series of Gormiti toys that correspond with the show was released in Italy and Spain just before Christmas 2018. The toys are now slated to be released around the world in 2019.

Gormiti marks a milestone production for Planeta Junior in terms of its international ambitions, said Planeta Junior managing director Ignacio Segura.

“We want to be global,” he explained. “We believe the series has that potential with its mix of comedy and action.”

For Planeta, this move towards ownership of their content is important, and a trend they plan to replicate. Segura commented: “Gormiti starts a phase at Planeta Junior in which we already have worldwide rights and we can exploit a series worldwide.”

The all-new Gormiti series made its world debut at a special event during MIPJUNIOR 2017. The brand-new show follows two earlier animated series inspired by the beloved toy franchise, Gormiti: The Lords of Nature Return! in 2008, and Gormiti Nature Unleashed, produced in CGI, in 2012, the former of which aired on Nicktoons UK & Ireland.

Below is Nickelodeon Ελλάδα's official show description for Gormiti: Ο θρύλος ζωντανεύει:
