Report: Nickelodeon May Have Renewed 'Bubble Guppies' for Season 5

Although unconfirmed, it looks like Nickelodeon has renewed its hit CG-animated preschool series Bubble Guppies for a fifth season - two-and-a-half years since the last episode premiered on TV!

Over the past couple of months, posts have been appearing on Instagram announcing that young voice actors have booked roles on the revival, including Taylor Nicole Kaplan, Jordan Friedman and Colby Kipnes.

Kaplan will be voicing Molly, taking over the role from Bailey Gambertoglio; Kipnes will be voicing Oona, taking over from Tori Feinstein; and Friedman will be voicing the Little Fish, taking over from Kayla Erickson.

Update (3/29) - Another two new recurring cast member for Bubble Guppies season five has been announced: Caleb Clark (The Godfather of Harlem) and Quinn Breslin (Butterbean’s Café season two)! Clark will voice Goby, taking over the role from Jelani Imani, and Breslin will be the new voice of Gil, taking over from Jacob Bertrand!

Additionally, a producer of the show has reportedly told Fans of Nick Jr, Disney Junior or PBS Kids Shows that the season five renewal came about after Jonny Belt and Robert Scull, the creators of Bubble Guppies and Nickelodeon's newest hit, Butterbean’s Café had a meeting with Ramsey Naito, Nickelodeon's new Executive Vice President (EVP) of Animation Production and Development, who is in charge of the network’s animation content across all formats and platforms spanning digital, TV and film, and after discussions about bringing back Bubble Guppies, and within a few weeks, reached a deal and started writing and casting for the new season!

The title of one of the new Bubble Guppies season five episodes has also been revealed to be "Movie Night!"

Bubble Guppies originally premiered on Nickelodeon USA on January 24, 2011 and ran for 80 episodes over four seasons, with the season four finale airing on Friday 21st October 2016.



Created by Jonny Belt and Robert Scull, Bubble Guppies is set in a vibrant underwater environment and follows a group of diverse preschoolers with colorful fish tails who go on adventures discovering their world. Bubble Guppies is set to a soundtrack of catchy, educational pop songs and features a curriculum that infuses the core elements of kindergarten readiness including: math, literacy, the arts, science and socio-emotional development.

Throughout its original four seasons, the series stars Brianna Gentilella (Blue's Clues, Blue's Room), Bailey Gambertoglio (Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Hot in Cleveland) and Tori Feinstein (Chuggington, 3rd & Bird, Arthur) as Molly, Tino Insana (Barnyard, Back at the Barnyard) as Mr. Grouper, Jacob Bertrand (Marvin Marvin, Jinxed, The Legend of Korra, iCarly, Parks and Recreation, The Middle) and Teddy Walsh (Team Umizoomi) as Gil, Jelani Imani (The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin) as Goby, Reyna Shaskan (The Backyardigans) as Oona, Jet Jurgensmeyer (Legends of the Hidden Temple: The Movie, Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, Shimmer and Shine) and Eamon Pirruccello (Thundercats) as Nonny, and Angelina Wahler (Harvey Beaks, Blaze and the Monster Machines), Grace Kaufman as Deema, Kari Wahlgren (Pig Goat Banana Cricket, Harvey Beaks, The Fairly OddParents), Skai Jackson (Dora the Explorer), Frank Welker (The Rugrats Movie, The Wild Thornberrys, CatDog, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, ChalkZone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Nickelodeon Toon Twister 3D, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, Muppet Babies, Where's Wally?, Garfield and Friends, Capitol Critters), and Zachary Gordon (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan). Guest stars on the series include Ozzy Osbourne, RuPaul, Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP) and NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson.

The news of the season five renewal of Bubble Guppies comes after Butterbean’s Café, the latest preschool series from Bubble Guppies co-creators Jonny Belt and Robert Scull, became Nickelodeon's highest-rated preschool series debut since the 2013 launch of PAW Patrol, posting double-digit year-over-year gains and averaging a 4.6/456,000 with Kids 2-5 (+27%) when the series launched in November 2018. The new episode (1 p.m. [ET/PT]) also drew 1.3 million total viewers (+55%).

Bubble Guppies will also be included in Nickelodeon's upcoming Nick Jr. Live! "Move to the Music" tour of the U.S. later this year.
