LONDON, September 16th, 2018 – Celebrity Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans visited London’s Ladbroke Grove this afternoon to visit the specially created Turtles lair and check out new skateboard trick The Mikey in honour of Michelangelo for the launch of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nicktoons and Channel 5 from 22nd September at 10am.

The immersive experience, produced by Nickelodeon, saw the turtles play havoc in Bay Sixty6 by turning the underground skate park into the Turtles Lair, enjoy an exclusive screening of new episodes in Master Splinter’s TV room and eat lots of pizza!

14-year-old skateboarder and YouTube sensation, Schaeffer Mclean unveiled a striking New York backdrop, along with new flip move The Mikey to celebrate the skateboarding turtle, Michelangelo in the Bay Sixty6 Death Defying Skate Bowl. The Mikey has been endorsed by official body; Skateboard England. James Hope Gill CEO of the governing body said:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Nickelodeon for the launch of “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” We’ve been working with Schaeffer on The Mikey for some time now - the move is a take on and adopts certain characteristics from skateboarding hero, Michelangelo who has a wild, colourful and imaginative personality.”

Celebrities entered the event by a sewer door before navigating their way through the lair via a series of activities that paid homage to each turtle hero, such as: Raphael’s Ninja Arena, Leonardo’s Light Speed Challenge, Donatello’s Music Coding and Mikey’s Mega Half Shell. Guests were also treated to a selection of pizzas and juices whilst relaxing in Splinters TV room to watch the first episode of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Attendees also had the chance to learn ninja moves and learn how to skate board on specially themed zones within the complex.

“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is about brotherhood, action, heroism, humour and pizza! What better to way to mark the launch of the new show than by recreating their dynamic New York lair under London’s West Way and giving guests the chance to power up like the Turtles” said Alison Bakunowich SVP General Manager Nickelodeon UK and Ireland and brand lead NEE.

The event also gave guests an exclusive first look at the toy range which launches nationwide 5th October. The range consists of 25 new turtle toys including new Deluxe Turtle Figures, Giant Shell Hog Cycles, Epic Sewer Playsets and an array of costumes.

The action-comedy series follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. In the months following, the series will premiere globally across Nickelodeon’s channels and branded blocks in 170+ countries and territories. The series will debut in the UK simultaneously on Nicktoons and Channel 5 from Saturday 22nd September at 10am. This will be the first UK simulcast across the Viacom owned Nicktoons and Channel 5.

Growing up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was my favourite programme. My mum reminds me of the hours she spent queing up in the rain for the Turtles action figures 🤣. So to see my little girl getting into Turtles herself is very surreal!! Especially now that Donatello is her fave which was also my fave 👍🏾. Today we spent the day at Nickolodeon's #TurtlesLair event to launch the new TMNT series which starts next Saturday. There were loads of games for the kids (and adults lol), skating, music production tutorials and even pizza and smoothies 😀. To make things even more surreal, the event was at the skatepark in Ladbroke Grove where I used to skate many years ago. Damn, feeling hella old 🤣😂. Have there been any events or circumstances that have made you think wow, time really does go fast and life goes full circle?! . Thanks Nickolodeon, a Sunday well spent 👌🏽👏🏽😉. Elliott.
