Nickelodeon Launches 'Double Dare' Facebook Messenger Game

Double Dare, Nickelodeon's iconic game show from the '80s and '90s come back with a bang earlier this summer when Nickelodeon revived the series, bringing together new fans and the show’s original audience. Each episode sees two teams compete in the messiest and most physically challenging competition of their lives. And now fans at home can get in on the action with Nickelodeon's brand-new Double Dare Facebook Messenger game!

In the multiplayer game, players can answer answer mind-boggling trivia questions based on a variety of topics, like technology and history, against their friends or other players around the world to win points. Players can Double Dare their opponents to win even more points, or go ahead and take the physical challenge. Users can also keep track of who's on top via the game's leaderboard.

To play, head to Facebook Messenger (or visit at.nick.com/2L1uH3a), tap "Games" and type in "Double Dare." From there, you can open the game and start a thread with a friend or an opponent from around the world. The two of you will then answer Double Dare questions, compete in physical challenge mini games that are based on those from the show and the game will send each player notifications when it's their turn.

Nickelodeon's Double Dare Facebook Messenger app is currently available in English on desktop and mobile, and players can see how their friends have answered questions and compare their scores on a leaderboard. It can be played in a group chat, though players can only compete one-on-one. Users can also have multiple active games on their profile.

You can play the Double Dare game today anywhere Facebook Messenger is available.

Double Dare returns with more brand-new episodes this September, only on Nickelodeon!

The brand-new Double Dare series premiered this summer and ranks in the top three shows with Kids 6-11 on all TV. The new Double Dare TV series is hosted by digital creator and actress Liza Koshy, with original host Marc Summers providing color commentary on the challenges and lending his vast knowledge of the game and expertise to each episode.

Double Dare premiered on Oct. 6, 1986, on Nickelodeon, and ran from 1986-1993, making it the network’s longest running game show. Marc Summers served as the show’s original host from 1986-1993. Shortly after its debut, Double Dare became one of the most popular original daily programs on cable television. The series went into syndication in 1988, and was later revived as Super Sloppy Double Dare in 1989. The show also ran on broadcast television as Family Double Dare in 1988, followed by new versions on Nick, including Double Dare 2000, and a commemorative Double Dare special in November 2016 to mark the show’s 30th anniversary. The classic series’ reboot is part of a recent raft of nostalgia-driven game show programming.
