'Thomas & Friends' To Arrives On Nickelodeon USA

Zap2it TV Listings is reporting the exciting news that Nickelodeon USA will start to air the beloved children's series Thomas & Friends, which follows the adventures of a group of trains and road vehicles who work and live on the Island of Sodor, home of The Fat Controller's (Sir Topham Hatt's) railway, on Friday 15th December 2017 at 1:30pm ET/PT!


Update: Nickelodeon has announced in a trailer that the episode will be a holiday special!

Update II: The episode will be the brand-new episode "The Christmas Coffee Pot", which has not currently aired in the US! In the episode, a voice cries out in alarm and Marion thinks she's found a talking Christmas tree.

Update III: Following the Holiday special, Nick Jr. will start to air Thomas & Friends weeknights at 7:00pm ET/PT from next week!:



The episodes will be:

Monday 18th December 2017 - Over the Hill: It's the day after Christmas and Glynn, the old Coffee Pot engine, has been restored and brought to Ulfstead Castle, but Stephen, the other old restored engine at the castle, is jealous.

Tuesday 19th December 2017 - Daisy's Perfect Christmas: Daisy loves a traditional Sodor Christmas so she is upset when things go differently; There's no snow for the children's Christmas outing; The children change the words to a Christmas song; The Small Engines put on a different show.

Wednesday 20th December 2017 - Emily in the Middle: One snow day, Donald and Douglas pick up a long train of heavy flatbeds; Sir Topham Hatt asks Emily to lend the two engines some puff.

Thursday 21st December 2017 - The Big Freeze: It's winter on Sodor; The steam engines are still waiting for the coal delivery to arrive, when the weather takes a turn for the worst and everything freezes; The engines carry on with their work, but the coal still doesn't arrive.

Friday 22nd December 2017 - The Christmas Coffee Pot (encore)

Update IV: Following Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. airing Thomas & Friends Christmas specials in December 2017, the official Thomas & Friends USA Facebook page has posted these updates:

"Hi, there! Our partnership with PBS ended on December 31, 2017. We are soon to announce a new broadcast home for Thomas for 2018! Please stay tuned for more information.

In the meantime, your family can still watch Thomas through Amazon and Hulu and will find content available for purchase at all major retailers on DVD and through iTunes. We also have a free robust offering of Thomas & Friends content on our You Tube channel." [Link to Facebook status]

Thomas & Friends has been making tracks to great destinations for over 65 years. Initially created by a father for his son, today the little blue engine is enjoyed by families across the globe. The #1 blue engine and his friends invite children to enter a world of imagination. Through colourful and timeless stories children embark on a host of exciting journeys with their engine friends and learn about discovery, friendship and cooperation.

Thomas & Friends (titled Thomas the Tank Engine in the UK) is based on The Railway Series of books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. The books were based on stories Wilbert told to entertain his son, Christopher, during his recovery from measles. Many of the stories from the first four series are based on events from Awdry's personal experience.

The Thomas & Friends television series, created by Britt Allcroft, airs in more than 185 territories in more than 30 languages. To date, 512 episodes and 21 television series of Thomas & Friends have been produced.

Thomas & Friends originally aired in the US on PTV between 1989–98, as segment on Shining Time Station. The series currently airs on PBS KIDS, and has also aired on Fox Family and PBS KIDS Sprout/Sprout. According to the PBS schedule on the WNED TV website, PBS KIDS has no plans to air Thomas & Friends from January 2018.
