UK Turtle Fans Send Captain Leonardo Into Space

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) has announced the Turtley Awesome news that, with over 40 per cent of the total vote, Leonardo: Space Captain was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle chosen by UK Turtle fans to travel into space! Booyakasha!

A video of the Dimension X action figure ascending into the stratosphere is now available to view on Nickelodeon UK's official YouTube channel as well as on nick.co.uk, nicktoons.co.uk, on Nick Play, and in the super embedded video below!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans cast a total of 8404 votes over the February voting period on nick.co.uk, nicktoons.co.uk and through Nick Play, with Leo emerging victorious.

"The video of the space voyage is just fantastic and not only does it showcase the toy line from GP Flair but it is also fitting complement to the latest series of the show," said Marianne James, VP, Consumer Products UK & Ireland & European Retail Sales & Marketing, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. "I'm obviously a bit disappointed that Mikey didn't win but the number of votes received was just tremendous and it is clear that Leo was the number one choice for the fans."

The video shows the space-suited GP Flair action figure leaving from the launch site near Elsworth in Cambridgeshire. The Turtle ascends to a total height of 34056 metres (21.16 miles) above the earth. Overall, the total journey, including ascension and landing, took 2 hours and 33 minutes (1hr 49min going up, 44min parachuting down) with Leo retrieved in a field near Shorthampton, Oxfordshire.

The video of Leonardo's epic journey is released ahead of the UK premiere of special Turtles episode "Trans-Dimensional Turtles," airing on Saturday 16th April 2016 at 5pm on Nicktoons UK & Ireland. In the episode, the Turtles are transported to another dimension where they meet their '80s alternate-reality counterparts. The voice cast of the 1980's Turtles, Cam Clarke, Rob Paulsen, Barry Gordon and Townsend Coleman appear in the episode as does actor Pat Fraley who reunites with the '80s cast for the first time since the original series premiered to reprise his role as Krang. In another dimensional twist, the episode will offer a glimpse of the Turtles in a comic book world resembling Kevin Eastman's Mirage Studios comic book series!

"It was amazing to see one of our Dimension X Turtles completing his own space jump" said Anne-Marie Noon, Boys' Marketing Manager, GP Flair. "Each figure comes equipped with everything needed for an intergalactic adventure such as a space helmet and gravity boots and it was great to see that the equipment worked well for Leo. Am I pleased that it was my favourite Leo that took the leap? You bet! But all of the figures from our spring 2016 collection hold a special place in my heart"

The latest Turtles figures from Flair Plc, are the most detailed ever with articulation, a special Dimension X theme and suits for all the Turtles. The figures are the perfect replica of the Ninja foursome from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.

Series four of Nickelodeon's hit animated show sees the Half-Shell Heroes embark on their most epic adventure yet in outer space. The brothers, joined by a cyborg known as Fugitoid (voiced by David Tennant), race against time to save planet Earth, taking on alien creatures and intergalactic monsters.
