Nickelodeon Hires Former Disney Executive Dion Vlachos As Their New SVP Of Retail Sales And Marketing

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen is reporting the Nickelodeon News in the following article that Nickelodeon has hired former Disney marketing executive Dion Vlachos as their new Senior Vice President (SVP) of retail sales and marketing. Dion Vlachos's responsibilities will include executing and leading sales efforts and further extending the company's presence in eCommerce, mass market and specialty retailers. Vlachos will focus his attention on key properties including "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Dora the Explorer" and "Bubble Guppies". He's assuming the position previously held by Ron Johnson, who in March 2013 was named Executive Vice President (EVP), Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products for Viacom International Media Networks:
Disney’s Dion Vlachos moves to Nickelodeon

Former Disney marketing exec Dion Vlachos has joined Nickelodeon as SVP of retail sales and marketing, where his responsibilities include executing and leading sales efforts and further extending the company’s presence in eCommerce, mass market and specialty retailers.

Vlachos will focus his attention on key properties including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and Bubble Guppies. He’s assuming the position previously held by Ron Johnson, who in March was named EVP, Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products for Viacom International Media Networks.

Previously, Vlachos held several marketing, merchandising and communications positions during a 20-year tenure at Disney. He was most recently VP of franchise development and global marketing at Disney Publishing Worldwide, where he led campaigns for franchises like Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, Cars and Wall-e.
