Viacom International Media Networks Europe Launches Their FTA Music And Entertainment Channel VIVA UK On Freesat

The official website of the British weekly music industry news magazine Music Week is reporting the VIMN Europe news that Viacom International Media Networks Europe have launched the UK and Irish version of their popular free-to-air music video and entertainment channel, Viva, VIVA UK and Ireland, on the British free-to-air digital satellite television service Freesat. According to Wikipedia, VIMN launched VIVA on Freesat on Tuesday 2nd April 2013:
Music channel Viva launches on Freesat

Viacom’s free-to-air music and entertainment channel Viva has launched on Freesat.

Launched in 2009, Viva claims to have “the strongest 16-24 profile of any of the UK’s digital free-to-air channels” with more than a quarter of its audience comprising of the demographic.

The channel reaches more than 10 million individuals each month.

Viacom counts Viva in a portfolio including MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.

“Joining Freesat is a natural evolution for Viva,” said Kerry Taylor, SVP, general manager, MTV UK. “It will give many more UK homes access to content from Viacom’s world-famous networks, offering them a brilliant mix of TV shows and music that is of proven appeal to a notoriously hard-to-reach younger audience.”

Paul Gilshan, Freesat’s marketing director added: “We’re proud to be increasing our line-up with the addition of such a hugely popular channel as VIVA. Having recently celebrated our 3 millionth sale, VIVA further strengthens Freesat’s entertainment genre as we continue to bring greater subscription-free choice to audiences right across the UK.”

Viacom launched VIVA in the UK on 26th October 2009 as a replacement for Viacom's TMF (The Music Factory). Both channels have shown programming from Nickelodeon in the past, including the popular animated original Nickelodeon series (Nicktoon) "SpongeBob SquarePants", and content from Nick UK's preschool channel, Nick Jr. UK and Ireland, as part of dedicated preschool programming blocks called "Noggin" and "Nick Jr on TMF", which included the preschool shows "The Backyardigans", "Dora the Explorer", "Go, Diego, Go!" "Thomas & Friends", "Little Bear", "Maggie & The Ferocious Beast" and "LazyTown".
