Nickelodeon Announces New European Digital And TV Partnerships For Popular Nickelodeon Shows

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen's 'iKids' column is reporting the Nickelodeon International News that Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has announced a raft of digital and television partnerships for popular Nickelodeon shows.

Following the recent news of Nickelodeon's content partnership with Nabi Jr. tablets, Nickelodeon is expanding its video presence on the LeapFrog platform in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Through the new deal with LeapFrog Enterprises, content from the popular Nickelodeon Preschool series "Team Umizoomi", "Go, Diego, Go!" and "Ni Hao,Kai-lan" are now available in French via the App Centre in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada, with "Dora the Explorer", "Bubble Guppies", "Wonder Pets", and Nickelodeon's original animated series (NickToon) "SpongeBob SquarePants" launching in the regions shortly. The deal marks Nickelodeon parent company VIMN's first download-to-own partnership in Belgium and Switzerland. The Nick content is being sold in the "Just for Fun" section of the LeapFrog App Centre for the learning tablet LeapPad1 and learning video game systems Leaspster Explorer and LeapsterGS. Nickelodeon content is already available in English in the LeapFrog App Centre in Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, on the TV front, Nickelodeon has signed several new animation and live-action programming deals within Northern Europe.

Denmark's free-to-air public broadcaster DR has signed a deal for the Nickelodeon Preschool animated series "Dora the Explorer" seasons one and two, which will air on the preschool-dedicated channel Ramasjang. DR has also picked up several Nickelodeon properties for its children's channel Ultra, including "Penguins of Madagascar" seasons two and three and live-action series "Big Time Rush" seasons one to three and "iCarly" season four. Alongside these deals, DR has also signed the Nickelodeon original TV Movie specials "Big Time Movie", "Boy Who Cried Werewolf", "A Fairly Odd Movie" and "Rags".

Norway's public service broadcaster NRK is adding animated comedy "Kung Fu Panda" seasons one and two to its lineup alongside "Big Time Rush" season three and "iCarly" seasons four and five.

Meanwhile, RUV in Iceland has signed for new Nick content, including comedy series "Robot & Monster", which is launching for international syndication at MIPTV, along with season two of "Bubble Guppies", "Team Umizoomi" and "Kung Fu Panda".

Sweden's public service broadcaster SVT has signed up for "Penguins of Madagascar" season two, while commercial broadcaster MTV3 in Finland has licensed "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" season one among other titles.

Switzerland's French language broadcaster TSR has also signed a landmark animation deal with Nickelodeon that includes "Legend of Korra" season one, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" season one, "Penguins of Madagascar" seasons two and three, and season two of "Kung Fu Panda" and "Bubble Guppies". The deal also includes "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" season one as well as a presale on the recently greenlit TMNT season two:
