Peak Summer Content

Building on the brand’s legacy as a hit movie maker, Paramount+ is dramatically scaling its feature film offering to include more than 2,500 popular titles by the end of summer 2021. The first 1,000 films will be available starting June 10, 2021. The service will also exclusively debut Infinite, a sci-fi action film starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor and directed by Antoine Fuqua, on June 10; premiere the much anticipated PAW Patrol: The Movie on August 20, the same day it hits theaters; and become the streaming home for A Quiet Place Part II following its successful theatrical release. The collection of Paramount+ original series will continue to expand this summer with the premiere and return of original series that span scripted dramas, kids and family, reality, comedy, music and documentaries. Nickelodeon UK and Ireland will premiere Smurfs: The Lost Village, the hit CG-animated movie inspired by Peyo's iconic The Smurfs franchise, on Friday 16th July 2021 at 6:00pm!


A mysterious map sends Smurfette, Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on a quest into the Forbidden Forest, leading to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history. Animated adventure, with the voices of Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Julia Roberts as SmurfWillow, Rainn Wilson as Gargamel, Joe Manganiello as Hefty Smurf, Jack McBrayer as Clumsy Smurf, Dee Bradley Baker as Monty, Ariel Winter as SmurfLily, and Meghan Trainor as SmurfMelody. Fully animated with new characters looking like the original Peyo's animation. This film will answer all of the questions of the Smurfs such as "Why do the Smurfs live in mushrooms?  and "Why don't the Smurfs wear shirts?".

The news comes as Nickelodeon is preparing to launch a brand new The Smurfs animated series later this year!

Miranda Cosgrove Reveals Original Concept for 'iCarly'; Talks About Show's Revival

Miranda Cosgrove has revealed that the original concept for iCarly was not based on a web show.


iCarly followed the story of Carly Shay (Cosgrove) and her best friend Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) on their journey to internet stardom after they start a web show with friend Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress) behind the camera.

However, the plotline, which was a hit with children all over the world, wasn't always the plan for the show. Cosgrove told how Carly was originally supposed to find fame on a television show.

In an interview with Newsweek Cosgrove explained: "When they came to me and asked me to do the show iCarly, I didn't understand, originally the character Carly was supposed to get cast on a TV show and she becomes famous from being on a TV show. But she's just this regular person that this casting director sees her and picks her and puts her on a show."

The 28-year-old went on to say that the decision to change make Carly into the host of a web show came very last minute.

"They were like, let's make it a web show—like last minute—they switched it," she explained. "And it was funny because back then, I didn't even know what a web show was. I was like a TV show would make so much more sense to me. I don't get this whole web show."

The show first aired back in 2007, when Cosgrove was just 14 years old, and spanned five seasons until it wrapped in 2012.

Now, to the delight of fans everywhere, the sitcom has made a return on Paramount+ in a more adult version of the show.

The reboot came about after Cosgrove received a phone call from Nickelodeon's Executive Vice President (EVP) Paula Kaplan, who suggested that they were thinking of iCarly for a revival.

The singer, who is the voice of the show's iconic theme tune "Leave It All To Me," said the writers actively incorporated elements from their real lives into the revival.

For Cosgrove, that included a lot of bad dates, which her character Carly experiences within the first two episodes of the show.

"We just spent so many hours zooming with the writers, telling them stories about our lives and things that we've been through over the last 10 years," the actor explained. "They really incorporated like in my life, everyone who knows me knows I go on a lot of very weirdly bad dates. Like every time go on a date somehow it just goes terribly wrong. So they definitely put that into the Carly character, even on the original show."

Cosgrove added that, with the show being aimed at a more adult audience, they had the freedom to explore topics, such as awful dating experiences and awkward moments.

The decision to not make another children's show was something the cast were passionate about, according to Cosgrove.

In fact, Cosgrove and co-star Jerry Trainor, who plays her older brother Spencer, actively read comments online to see what the show's original fans wanted to see.

She said: "Jerry and I had like so many conversations about, you know, what do people want to see? And we would go online and even read people's comments about the old [show]."

"Even when it was announced that we were doing or revival, we read a lot of comments online, just trying to gauge what people were hoping for, because we're still making the season even now."

iCarly's return has been nostalgic for not only original viewers, but Cosgrove as well.

The actor admitted that she was left feeling emotional when she stepped onto the set of the revival for the first time, adding that her entire childhood took place on the show.

"It's really nostalgic for me—just like it probably is for the people that are watching it because it was my entire childhood, everything," she said. "Like my first date, I left the set of the show iCarly to go on the date. Like the guy picked me up from there, just everything I remember from being young was on that."

To emphasize the tremendous advantages that Yoga offers, the brand has collaborated with child prodigies Ishwar Sharma and Harsha Nivetha to come forward and extend their support to the initiative. Yoga Day: Meet child yoga prodigy Harsha Nivetha who is all set to talk about the importance of yoga on Nickelodeon on June 21

This International Yoga Day, we spoke to yoga prodigy Harsha Nivetha who had broken the Guinness World Record for holding the Utthita Padmasana for 174 minutes in December 2017

Harsha Nivetha's tryst with yoga began when she was just three and a half years old and had a slew of low immunity issues, leading to her catching a cold every now and then. That's when her mother enrolled her in a regular yoga class. There has been no looking back since for the 14-year-old yoga prodigy. Nivetha entered the Guinness Book of World Records at the age of 10, in 2017, after she performed a yoga pose that she held for 174 seconds. Hailing from the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, she attempted the record at her school, where she balanced herself in the Utthita Padmasana posture for nearly three minutes. She broke the previous record that was held by an American woman who held the same pose for 90 seconds. Later in 2018, her record had also been broken by a kid from Madurai.

This year, Nivetha has been chosen for an International Yoga Day campaign by Nickelodeon where she will be speaking about the importance of yoga and ways to inculcate the habit of practising it regularly, especially among children. A student at the PS Chidambara Nadar Senior English School, Nivetha began taking part in competitions and events when she was five years old. She has even also won several accolades in district-, state- and national-level competitions over the years. Nivetha believes that while regular exercises are meant to keep the body fit and healthy, yoga helps you improve from within. "It helps with the proper functioning of your organs, improves immunity, helps you concentrate and does a lot of other things," she says. 

Speaking about her favourite yoga asana, it doesn't come as a surprise when Nivetha tells us that it is the scale pose, yes, the very pose she won her Guinness record for. "The scale pose is a hand-balancing pose. It's called Tulasana in Sanskrit. It is also called Utthita Padmasana. The asana helps to strengthen the wrists, arms and abdomen, improves your sense of balance and calms your mind. However, Tulasana isn’t recommended for those who aren’t able to perform Padmasana comfortably," explains Nivetha.

Nivetha practises yoga regularly, at least two to three hours a day. She encourages other children of her age to start early as well and shares, "It is beneficial not just for your body, but also for your mind. It will improve emotional and mental well-being. Yoga boosts a child's self-esteem and in terms of the body, it improves balance and flexibility. Yoga also enhances children's cognitive memory power and increases retaining ability. If you practise yoga, you will gain concentration. It also teaches us discipline."
