The CW Orders All-New Reimagined Version of 'Legends of the Hidden Temple' for Adults

THE CW NETWORK AMPS UP THE ADVENTURE BY ORDERING AN ALL-NEW REIMAGINED VERSION OF THE ICONIC LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE

The Supersized, Adult Version of The Beloved '90s Competition Series To Preserve Many of The Favorite Elements of The Original

May 11, 2021 (Burbank, CA) - The CW Network has ordered a new, reimagined edition of the iconic Nickelodeon adventure series LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE, further expanding the network's alternative programming slate. The series' premiere date and time will be announced later.

This supersized, adult version of LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE preserves many of the original Nickelodeon series' favorite elements, including "Olmec" - the giant talking Mayan head - the "Moat Crossings," "The Steps of Knowledge," the "Temple Run," and of course, the iconic team names: "Purple Parrots," "Blue Barracudas," "Orange Iguanas," "Red Jaguars," "Silver Snakes" and "Green Monkeys." Only this time, the entire show is taken out of the studio into a "jungle" and scaled up with tougher challenges and much bigger prizes on the line. Every episode is a hero's journey through a mysterious jungle. Five teams begin the journey, but only one is "strong enough and smart enough" to enter the ominous Olmec's Temple, avoid the "dreaded" Temple Guards, retrieve a lost treasure, and return it to its rightful owner.

If you're interested in applying for the show, there's a website for that. Your team of two just has to be 21 or older and able to be in the Los Angeles area in July. The choice to take part is yours and yours alone.

LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE, the cherished '90s Nickelodeon competition show, originally aired from 1993-1995, with repeats airing continuously for nearly thirty years. LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE holds a special place in millennial hearts -- inspiring a movie, mobile games, a board game, and one of the most popular Halloween costumes every year. The award-winning series was inspired by the seminal Nintendo game The Legend of Zelda and the Indiana Jones movie franchise. The series was hosted by Kirk Fogg, with Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad!) as the voice of Olmec. Both Fogg and Baker reprised their respective roles for Nickelodeon's original TV movie.

The news follows Quibi planning a adult-originated LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE series in 2020, however, the streaming company shuttered later that year.

Based on the original game show created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen R. Brown, LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE is produced by Stone & Company Entertainment and Nickelodeon. The series is executive produced by Scott A. Stone and Marcus Fox ("Paradise Run").

Update (5/25) - The CW will premiere the new Legends of the Hidden Temple series during mid-October, where it'll air Sundays between 8-9 p.m. ET/PT.

"LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE — This supersized, adult version of LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE is taken out of the studio into a “jungle” and scaled up with tougher challenges and much bigger prizes on the line. The CW’s EVP Development Gaye Hirsch recently told Deadline, “We’ve always been incredibly interested in the alternative space but we do sense that there’s even more opportunity. We’ve been aggressively looking in the marketplace.”

It is also the latest example of cross pollination between brands owned by ViacomCBS; the CW is part-owned by the media conglomerate, as is Nickelodeon.

"Once again, the gate to Olmec’s temple is about to open, but this time it’s for grown-ups! Doron Ofir Casting is thrilled to announce that for a select few contestants, the journey begins anew.

Teams once again retrieve ancient artifacts and return them to their rightful heir in order to win prizes and all of the glory promised by, LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE!

If you grew up on Legends of the Hidden Temple and dreamed of your own epic Temple Run, it’s time to live that dream!

Seeking teams of two who are able to be in the Los Angeles area during the month of July, who work well together and want to prove they have what it takes.

Legends super-fans are a plus!

Are you and a friend ready to become Legends? The choice is yours, and yours alone.

The official casting notice has a series of questions for any teams of two that apply. In addition to personal information questions, the form asks for information like strengths and weaknesses of your proposed team, special abilities, and knowledge in these categories: Human Body, Geography, Science, History, and Pop Culture. It also asks about your feelings and favorite parts of the original Legends of the Hidden Temple show but also hints at what physical challenges you might be asked to do, noting:

- Can you comfortably swim 200’ (feet) without assistance? Explain your swimming ability
- Do you have any allergies or asthma?
- Do you get claustrophobia in small spaces?
- Do you get dizzy easily?
- Are you afraid of heights?
- What’s the most embarrassing thing you would do to be on the show?
