John Cena’s Got Jokes About This Yale Dean on Premiere of ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader’ | Sneak Peeks | Nickelodeon

John Cena and Nickelodeon's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader are back for new episodes on Friday evening, but you won’t have to wait until 7 o’clock to get a few chuckles over an adult struggling with basic math.

Not only is Alfred the assistant dean at Yale, he is a former Princeton professor. Both are Ivy League schools.

Here is Nick’s enjoyable logline for the “College Dean” episode:

In the episode, an Ivy League professor aims to prove his years of schooling haven’t gone to waste. But when his big brain starts to overthink, he considers cheating off a 5th grader!

Watch Alfred fret his way through a third-grad subtraction question via the sneak peek video below, unveiled by TheWrap.

And yes, he was correct. I hope your backwards counting concurs.

On-again, off-again WWE Superstar Cena hosts and executives produces this version of 5th Grader, which Nickelodeon describes as a “reimagined iconic family game show follows the original premise of kids helping adult contestants put their knowledge to the test with questions taken directly from an elementary school curriculum.”

Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader will air two back-to-back season premiere episodes tonight (September 6), with the first at 7/6c and the second, “Policeman,” starting a half-hour later. New episodes continue Fridays at 7/6c on Nickelodeon.

John Cena Attempts to Perform His WWE Entrance Song on a Recorder for Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader

John Cena might want to change his catchphrase from “You can’t see me!” to “You can’t hear me!” after this. The WWE legend returns to host new episodes of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader tonight (Nickelodeon, 7/6c), and as you’ll see in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek [available to watch on tvline.com], one question requires him to show off his musical side.

The first of two back-to-back episodes pits an Ivy League professor against the show’s panel of elementary school whiz kids, and when a question about a “fipple flute” (aka a recorder) comes up, Cena seizes the opportunity to play his iconic WWE entrance song.

“Never had one lesson!” Cena proudly proclaims after fumbling his way through the eight-note piece. (The fact that some of the students are literally covering their ears suggests they’re not surprised by this information.)

Following tonight’s full-hour premiere, new half-hour episodes of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader will air Fridays at 7 pm on Nickelodeon.
