"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water" Success Sparks International TV Sales For Popular Nickelodeon Shows

The licensing news website License! Global Mag is reporting the exciting news that the success of Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Animation's "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water" has sparked global interest in the brand's TV series from broadcasters around the globe!


In Europe, French free-to-air (FTA) broadcaster France 3 has bought 50 new episodes of "SpongeBob SquarePants" following the show's launch on the channel in February 2015, while Spain's free-to-air broadcaster Clan has renewed seasons one through three, six and seven.

Across the Atlantic, Canal 13 (Chile), Teledoce (Uruguay) and Vrak TV (Canada) have picked up the full series including the brand-new season nine.

In addition to "SpongeBob", Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has also inked new deals for additional children's content from Nickelodeon.

Canadian pay-TV channel Yoopa has acquired "Dora and Friends: Into the City!" (season one), while Clan in Spain picked up both "Dora and Friends" and "Dora the Explorer" (season eight). In Brazil, TV Cultura has snagged the rights to four Dora specials.

A Russian broadcaster has picked up the rights to "The Legend of Korra" (seasons one and two) while Teledoce in Uruguay is adding 26 episodes of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Finally, Italy's free-to-air broadcaster Rai has bought the live-action titles "The Haunted Hathaways" (season one) and "Big Time Rush" (seasons three and four).
