Ciara to Perform at Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports 2019

Ciara will take the stage at Nickelodeon's Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 to turn out a medley including singles "Set" and "Level Up" from her latest album, Beauty Marks, plus her 2004 hit "1,2 Step," Billboard has revealed!

The only show celebrating kids’ love of sports, their favorite athletes and the year’s most unforgettable sports moments. Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 will be taped on Thursday, July 11, from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., and premiere Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S. This years KCS awards will see Michael Strahan return as host for the second time. Stephen Curry, James Harden and Serena Williams lead this year's nominees with four noms each, with Saquon Barkley, Tom Brady, Nikki Bella, LeBron James, Patrick Mahomes, Alex Morgan and Free Solo subject Alex Honnold among other contenders. KCS 2019 will also honor Basketball superstar and three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade with the coveted Legend Award in recognition of his achievements and outstanding sportsmanship on and off the court.

Ciara's husband Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback who hosted the event three consecutive years from 2015-17, will also be participating in this year's show. Ciara has been in the audience all three times to see her husband get doused with his share of the green stuff, and she tells Billboard she's excited to break out from the sidelines.

"The Kids' Choice Sports Awards are always fun, we bring the whole family," she says. "The kids have been able to see Russell on the stage over the years so I'm excited for them to see me performing on the stage this year!"

Hosted by Super Bowl Champion and two-time Emmy-Award winner Michael Strahan (Good Morning America, Strahan and Sara, The $100,000 Pyramid, Fox NFL Sunday), Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 is set to be the event of the summer, bursting with epic slimings and sheer sports ‘fan’-demonium.

Among the famous faces attending the live taping of Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 will be Michael Strahan (host), Dwyane Wade (Legend Award Recipient); Rob Gronkowski (NFL, New England Patriots); Nikki Bella (WWE); Shaun White (Snowboarder); Lindsey Vonn (Alpine Ski Racer); Laurie Hernandez (Gymnast); Chloe Kim (Snowboarder); Ben Simmons (NBA, Philadelphia 76ers); Saquon Barkley (NFL, New York Giants); Mikaela Shiffrin (Alpine Ski Racer); Alysa Liu (Figure Skater); David Dobrik and more.

The top nominees this year with four nominations each are Serena Williams, Stephen Curry and James Harden. First-time nominees Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley, Baker Mayfield and Naomi Osaka, join LeBron James, Tom Brady, Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd with three nominations each. Other first-time nominees vying for coveted blimps include Mookie Betts, Nikki Bella, Stephanie Gilmore, Tori Bowie, Blake Snell, Chris Sale, Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, Alex Honnold, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Trae Young.


Kids have been casting their votes for their favorite athletes and all-star moments at www.NickPlay.com and the Screens Up App. Nine categories are new to Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2019: Favorite Esports Star, featuring the top pros in competitive gaming; and Favorite Athlete, across the world of sports--soccer, golf, tennis, baseball, basketball, football, hockey and gymnastics. Voting for Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 is now closed.

NickPlay.com serves as the official destination for Kids’ Choice Sports 2019 and will pair with the show to feature all-star live votes, polls, sports-themed short-form videos, trivia, backstage reactions, and more. As the show’s competitors face off during the show, users will be able to join in the fun through the interactive experience throughout the night.
