Nickelodeon Germany to Celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th Anniversary with Sponge-Tastic Weekend

Berlin - He's yellow, square and always in a good mood: SpongeBob SquarePants has been sharing his zest for life and optimism with fans for two decades now, together with his friends, including his faithful BFF starfish Patrick Star and cranky co-worker Squidward Tentacles. In July 1999, the very first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants flickered on television screens across the U.S.


To celebrate the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central in Germany will dedicate a whole weekend to the yellow bundle of joy, beginning Friday 12th July 2019!

On Friday 12th July 2019, Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central will pay tribute to the world's most popular sponge and show SpongeBob SquarePants across all three channels. Whilst Nickelodeon (06:00 Uhr - 20:15 Uhr) and Comedy Central (from 06:00 Uhr - 00:00 Uhr) will dedicate the day to the most popular and funniest episodes, MTV will be all about the musical episodes. In an MTV Most Wanted special, MTV will showcase the most popular musical episodes of the series between 19:15 Uhr to 22:10 Uhr, including the legendary episode "Band Geeks", featuring the hit song "Sweet Victory", which, thanks to over one million fans, became part of this year's Super Bowl halftime show!


The celebration continues with the 48-hour SpongeBob Live-Show, airing on Nick over Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2019! In honour of SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th anniversary, Nick will be hosting the SpongeBobs große Geburtstagssause (formally titled SpongeBob Live-Show). Live from a glass studio, Nickelodeon presenter Sascha Quade (TOY TOY TOY – Die Unboxing Show) will be sending sponge-tastic greetings to all of SpongeBob's fans and viewers. In his glass "SpongeBox" studio on the Marlene-Dietrich-Platz in the centre of Berlin, he will invite illustrious guests to talk about SpongeBob SquarePants and to play hilarious games. There will also be special musical performances. On Saturday and Sunday starting at 12:00 Uhr, Nick will broadcast live to the studio on the hour, allowing Sascha to invite the audience to interact and participate in all the action live. Viewers can find out what's happening throughout the weekend online at spongebob.de. Nickelodeon will also broadcast SpongeBob SquarePants throughout the weekend throughout the live show.

Special guests joining Sascha in the "SpongeBox" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants will be Santiago Ziesmer, the voice of SpongeBob in in the German dub of SpongeBob SquarePants, singer Lukas Rieger, duo Die Lochis, YouTuber Freshtorge, grill master Tom Heinzle, presenter Johanna Klum, Rapper Fargo ("Nick, wenn du"), the cast of Nickelodeon's hit series Spotlight, and many other guests. Fans are also invited to visit the "SpongeBox" to personally congratulate SpongeBob SquarePants!

A special highlight is the premiere of the special “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout" on Saturday 13th July 2019 at 19:10 Uhr, where SpongeBob reunites with guest star David Hasselhoff! The hour-long mixed live-action and animated special will also feature the U.S. voice cast behind SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton playing human versions of their animated characters, as well as guest stars Kel Mitchell (All That, Game Shakers – Jetzt geht’s App), Jack Griffo (Die Thundermans) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad). The special will make its world debut on Nickelodeon USA on Friday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT), before rolling out on Nickelodeon channels internationally.


With well over 200 episodes, two feature films (plus a third coming in 2020), a globally successful consumer product programme, and a Tony award winning Broadway musical, SpongeBob is a true global phenomenon. Bright yellow merchandise featuring SpongeBob's striking teeth and unmistakable, cheerful eyes, can be found in children's bedrooms worldwide. SpongeBob SquarePants is a true evergreen property.


Between Tuesday 2nd to Monday 8th July 2019, Schlesischen Street in Berlin-Kreuzberg will receive a Spongeriffic makeover which will pay special tribute to two decades of crazy Bikini Bottom adventures: well-known graffiti artist HRVB is dedicate a huge mural to SpongeBob painted in his unmistakable style on a Berlin house wall.

"I've been a fan since I first came into contact with SpongeBob. I was instantly fascinated by the character design and this positive, happy-naive character. My mural should show this positive side. Therefore, the viewer will discover, among other things, peace signs and hearts in my artwork. The implementation will make me sweat a lot, because that is really hard physical work: I'll be painting the nine by nine metre mural for ten hours a day" says HRVB.

For those who can not get enough of SpongeBob, Pluto TV, a free TV streaming service, launches a spongetacular pop-up channel, featuring the best of episodes of the legendary first five seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants, starting Friday 12 July 2019, airing around the clock. Pluto TV is available in Germany and Austria for free on Amazon Fire TV sets and Amazon Fire tablets, as well as the Sky TV stick.


When marine biologist Stephen Hillenburg brought a small, yellow underwater sponge to life at the end of the 1990s, no one had yet realised the scale of success the optimistic SpongeBob would achieve so quickly. Um SpongeBob zu ehren, veranstaltet Nick vom 12. bis zum 14. Juli „SpongeBobs große Geburtstagssause“. 48 Stunden lang wohnt Nick-Moderator Sascha Quade im gläsernen „SpongeBox“-Studio auf dem Marlene-Dietrich-Platz im Zentrum Berlins und empfängt berühmte Fans des Schwammtastischen: Vor Ort sind u.a. Mein Mural soll diese positive Seite zeigen. Daher wird der Betrachter unter anderem Peacezeichen und Herzchen in meinem Kunstwerk entdecken. Die Umsetzung wird mich dabei ganz schön ins Schwitzen bringen, denn das ist wirklich harte körperliche Arbeit: Zehn Stunden täglich werde ich an dem neun mal neun Meter großen Wandbild malen,“ so HRVB.

Nickelodeon Netherlands Announces 'Nickelodeon Familie Festival 2019', Second Annual Festival for Kids and Families

Nickelodeon Benelux has announced the aweslime news that, following the slime-tastic success of Nickelodeon Netherlands' (Nederland) first-ever Nickelodeon Familie Festival in 2018, Nickelodeon Familie Festival will return this summer, bigger and better than before!


Taking place once again at the beach in Almere on Sunday 25th August 2019 between 10:00 - 19:00 uur, Nickelodeon Familie Festival is a family-centric festival specially designed for kids aged 6-12 years and their parents. The entire day will feature live performances from many well-known Dutch artists, meet and greets with popular YouTube stars & vloggers as well as Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. heroes, including SpongeBob SquarePants and the pups from PAW Patrol, plus lots of activities inspired by hit Nickelodeon shows. For the smallest festival goers, there will be a special Nick Jr. Playzone.

On the festival grounds, attendees will be able to choose from a wide and varied selection of healthy eating options.

Nickelodeon Familie Festival 2019 will once again be hosted by Nickelodeon presenter, TikTok star and De Gouden Stuiver nominee Nienke van Dijk (De Viral Fabriek, Cool Factor, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Droomkamers, The Passion) and Dutch singer and the recipient of multiple Kids' Choice Awards blimp awards, Kaj van der Voort (B-Brave, Mamma Mia).

Additionally, throughout the day, attendees will have the chance to meet and greet their favourite stars, including: Stefania, the cast of De Ludwigs (the Dutch version of Hunter Street), Nickelodeon presenter Wout Verstappen (Droomkamers, Ghost Rockers), Chase, Marshall and Skye from PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Shimmer and Shine, Penny and Rod from Top Wing, and Peppa Pig! Younger festival goers will also be able to visit the Nick Jr. area, where ambassador Kim Kötter and children's hero Dirk Scheele will provide fans with musical performances. Children can also enjoy themselves by participating in various play activities. In short, everyone can enjoy cool music performances and play until the end of the day!


Early bird tickets to attend Nickelodeon Familie Festival 2019 opened on Tuesday 9th April 2019, and are available to purchase now at http://festival.nickelodeon.nl/tickets/. Vorig jaar organiseerde multiplatform merk Nickelodeon het eerste Nickelodeon Familie Festival. Meer dan 12.000 kinderen en volwassenen beleefden een dag vol familieplezier. Vanwege het succes van vorig jaar, keert het grootste familie evenement van Nederland deze zomer terug naar het Almeerderstrand in Almere. Niemand minder dan Nickelodeon-presentatrice Nienke van Dijk en Kaj van der Voort presenteren de dag. Ook dit jaar kan jong en oud weer genieten van optredens van bekende Nederlandse artiesten, ‘Meet & Greets’ met favoriete YouTubers, bloggers, Nickelodeon en Nick Jr. Helden. De eerste headliners van het Nickelodeon Familie Festival zijn bekend! Niemand minder dan Ronnie Flex & Deuxperience, Kalvijn en STUK zullen spetterende live optredens verzorgen tijdens de tweede editie van het grootste familie festival van Nederland. Ook Stefania, 4LIFE en Dirk Scheele zullen optreden tijdens deze dag vol fun. Nickelodeon-presentatrice Nienke van Dijk en multitalent Kaj van der Voort presenteren de dag. Het Almeerderstrand in Almere zal dus op zondag 25 augustus veranderen in enorm festijn. Jong en oud kan met elkaar genieten van deze populaire artiesten, ‘Meet & Greets’ met favoriete YouTubers, Nickelodeon en Nick Jr.-helden en de bezoekers kunnen meedoen aan verschillende buiten activiteiten.

Ronnie Flex & Deuxperience, Kalvijn, die dit jaar in het kader van zijn winst bij de KCA’s werd geslimed door Nickelodeon, en STUK staan op de mainstage van dit evenement. Het festival is voor kinderen van 6 tot 12 jaar en hun ouders. Vorig jaar kwamen er 12.000 bezoekers op af. In de mediaoorlog tussen RTL en Talpa weet de derde grote commerciële zendergroep onder jongeren en jongvolwassenen Viacom Benelux zich te onderscheiden in deze lastig te bereiken doelgroep. Een uitgekiende benadering via digitale platformen en samenwerking in bijvoorbeeld het delen van formats, RTL’s Videoland en in reclameverkoop lijken het toverwoord voor verdere groei van Viacom.

Maurice Hols vertelt wat er volgens hem goed is aan zijn zenders. De ene keer in een relax stand met veel enthousiasme, dan weer scherp en strijdend. Hij is er geenszins van overtuigd dat hij zich kan permitteren te licht te denken over de huidige mediaverhoudingen en hoe hij met zijn zendergroep de gewenste doelgroep jongvolwassenen het beste kan bereiken. Hols: „Het is elke dag keihard werken aan ons bestaansrecht om relevant te blijven. De markt is klein, daarom pleiten we ook voor samenwerking. Met voorbeeld RTL dat BrandDeli overgenomen heeft. Zij verkopen onze reclamezendtijd. Maar we doen ook dingen samen via Videoland. Door samenwerking hou je het medialandschap gezond en kun je de adverteerder ook beter bedienen.”

Hols is Executive Vice President en General Manager bij Viacom Benelux. Hij is meer dan vijftien jaar betrokken bij het mediabedrijf en sinds een paar jaar is hij eindverantwoordelijk voor het zenderportfolio MTV, Nickelodeon, Spike, Nick Jr. en Comedy Central. Het afgelopen kwartaal had Viacom in Nederland een gemiddeld marktaandeel van 12,2 procent in de jongvolwassenen doelgroep van 18-34 jaar.

Inhoud
Waar bijvoorbeeld de publieke omroep steeds meer moeite heeft om lineair en digitaal deze groep te bereiken, doet Viacom het goed. Hols: „We benaderen doelgroepen altijd 360 graden. Dat betekent dat we eerst nadenken over een goed format en samen de inhoud bepalen. Daarna kijken we waar het format het beste past en hoe we deze content kunnen delen op al onze beschikbare sociale, digitale en lineaire kanalen. Soms begint een format digitaal zoals met Ex on the Beach, Double Dutch, Inpakken met…. Daarna kan het ook een ’long format’ vervolg krijgen zoals op MTV.”

The Roast
Het gaat goed met Viacom. 2018 werd zelfs het beste jaar ooit genoemd, zowel in financiële zin als in het trekken van veel kijkers naar verschillende platformen van Viacom. Dit jaar moet een nog beter jaar worden. De handtekening is net gezet voor een nieuwe The Roast eind dit jaar op Comedy Central. Het format is op dit moment het meest succesvolle van Viacom Benelux. Opnieuw zal er een Bekende Nederlander een ’Roast’ ondergaan. Wie de opvolger is van Johnny de Mol, Gorden of Giel Beelen blijft nog geheim.

Buitenlandse formats in een lokaal jasje gieten, zoals met The Roast op Comedy Central of Ex on the Beach op MTV, zijn een succes en dit krijgt een vervolg. „Er komt meer lokaal product op onze zenders”, zegt Hols erover. „In de digitale arena is het belangrijk dat je relevant bent. Wij benaderen onze doelgroepen niet alleen vanuit lineair. We zoeken waar onze doelgroep zit en ’engagen’ hen bijvoorbeeld via YouTube of Instagram. We vertellen daar een verhaal, soms begint het daar en proberen ze ook te bewegen het long format via televisie te bekijken. We bereiken ze niet alleen digitaal of via social, maar ook dus via televisie. Daarmee realiseren we groei en zijn we relevant voor bijvoorbeeld onze distributiepartners zoals VodafoneZiggo.” Het houden van evenementen bij formats wordt ook een belangrijk middel in de mix van het bereiken van Viacom-doelgroepen. „Kijk naar het jaarlijkse Nickelodeon Familie Festival in Almere. Daar kwamen vorig jaar 12.000 mensen op af. Wij zijn commercieel marktleider in het binden van de kids-doelgroep. Events zijn heel belangrijk voor betrokkenheid bij onze merken en bieden adverteerders naast ons media-platform ook experimentele mogelijkheden.

Hols begrijpt de angst van veel kleinere digitale zenders als OutTv of OranjeTV die vrezen voor hun voortbestaan nu ze minder inkomsten krijgen uit distributievergoedingen van de kabelaars. Hij heeft er ook mee te maken. „Maar je moet je altijd afvragen of je toegevoegde waarde hebt. Kijken er genoeg kijkers naar je? Wij bereiken heel veel jongvolwassenen via ons portfolio. Dat is een traditioneel lastig te bereiken doelgroep via lineaire kanalen en daarmee bieden wij meerwaarde. Wij hebben een gezamenlijke verantwoordelijkheid om deze kijkers erbij te houden. Maar over bedragen ga ik het niet hebben.”

NLZIET
Een eigen videoplatform opzetten ziet Hols niet zitten. Ook gaat hij zich niet aansluiten bij het platform NLZIET waar content van de NPO, Talpa en RTL te zien is. Hij ziet wel een vorm van samenwerken bij het delen van content of het bedenken van nieuwe formats die op verschillende platformen te zien kunnen zijn. „Wil je zo’n eigen videoplatform goed neerzetten dan heb je veel goede content nodig, breed maar ook in niche. Maar je moet ook veel marketing power hebben en een product dat mensen gewend zijn te gebruiken. Ik zie veel meer in samenwerking met bestaande platformen. Met RTL zijn we commercieel al close. Zij verkopen onze reclamezendtijd. En een aantal van onze series is al te zien op Videoland. Om lokaal te kunnen concurreren met internationale video on demand (VOD) aanbieders, geloof ik veel meer in samenwerking. Dat kan ook verder gaan in het samen uitrollen van formats. Het is uiteindelijk belangrijk hoe de kijker binnenkomt en deze als ’fan’ zo goed mogelijk kunnen bedienen. Er zijn waar de kijker al is.”

Amanda Bynes Graduates Fashion Design School

A huge congratulations to Amanda Bynes, who has graduated from fashion design school!


The 33-year-old actor and Nickelodeon alum celebrated her graduation from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a rare photo Monday on Twitter.

The picture shows Bynes wearing her cap and gown as she poses with a classmate at their graduation ceremony.

"FIDM graduate 2019 #fidmgraduation," she captioned the post.

Amanda's got her hair pretty long right now, and it's dyed blonde and pink.

The graduation ceremony was attended by 12,000 people and went down Monday night at Staples Center in L.A., where Amanda walked across the stage with an Associate's degree in fashion design. Eyewitnesses have said that Amanda seemed ecstatic -- she was getting tons of love from her teachers and peers, and posed for some selfies with her classmates.

Bynes first enrolled at FIDM in 2014. She temporarily dropped out but returned to the school in 2015, and received her associate degree in November.

"She's doing fantastic, she really is," Leslie Grossman, who co-starred with Bynes in What I Like About You, said of the actor on Busy Tonight in December. "She's very eager to get back into acting, which I think she'll have no problem with. I think everyone wants to see her."

"She's also still really committed to doing fashion -- she's done so well," Grossman added. "I'm very, very proud of her. She's doing great."

Bynes had voiced interest in returning to acting in an interview with Paper in November.

The happy news comes months after Amanda rechecked herself into a facility in January. Her going back for treatment was a result of a backslide from being back in the spotlight after her Paper magazine cover story.

Amanda opened up a lot in the feature, revealing that starring role in 2006's "She's the Man" sent her into a spiral of depression. She also blamed a lot of her issues on drug use. At the time of the article -- November 2018 -- Amanda said she was 4 years sober.

Amanda was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and has been under a conservatorship for the past 5 years, but the problems began several years earlier.

Bynes landed her breakout role on the number-one entertainment brand for kids at the age of 10 in Nickelodeon's hit sketch show All That and later starred in her spin-off series, The Amanda Show from 1999 to 2002, which also helped launch the careers of Drake Bell and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh). Following The Amanda Show, Bynes went on to star in The WB sitcom What I Like About You, which ran between 2002-2006 and also aired on Nickelodeon UK, and star in movies, such as What a Girl Wants (2003), Robots (2005), Love Wrecked (2005), She's the Man (2006), and Hairspray (2007).

Bynes' former All That co-stars, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, who are executive producing Nickelodeon's All That revival, have said that they are open to the actor making an appearance on the reboot.

It's SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th anniversary, and to celebrate, Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) will be hosting a special a special SpongeBob SquarePants shopping centre activation area featuring lots of games and activities inspired by the hit animated series at the Nações Shopping shopping center in Criciúma, Brazil between Friday 14th June - Saturday 27th July 2019! Bob Esponja e sua turma invadem o Nações Shopping

Uma das animações mais queridas da criançada, Bob Esponja, chega ao Nações Shopping a partir do dia 14 de junho. O espaço temático é gratuito e tem como destaque o Siri Cascudo, fast food mais simpático da Fenda do Biquíni, onde os participantes podem se divertir em um circuito de brincadeiras que inclui pintura de desenhos dos personagens, caça às águas vivas, brinquedão no fundo do mar e também a escola de pilotos com jogos do Playstation.

Para quem não conhece, Bob Esponja é uma série animação americana criada por um biólogo marinho e animador e teve seu primeiro episódio exibido em 1999. Este ano, portanto, o desenho completa 20 anos de idade. A produção narra às aventuras de uma esponja marinha e de seus amigos na Fenda do Biquíni. A popularidade da série a tornou uma franquia de mídia, bem como a animação/série de maior audiência Nickelodeon e a propriedade mais distribuída internacionalmente pela MTV Networks.

O espaço do Bob Esponja funciona de segunda a sábado, das 14h às 22h, e domingo e feriados também das 14h às 22h. Podem participar da brincadeira crianças de três a 12 anos, que devem ser observadas do lado de fora pelos pais ou responsáveis. O acesso é gratuito e respeita ordem de chegada. Cada sessão dura em média 20 minutos e o espaço ficará no shopping até dia 27 de julho.

Para quem não conhece, Bob Esponja é uma série de animação americana criada por um biólogo marinho e animador e teve seu primeiro episódio exibido em 1999. Este ano, portanto, o desenho completa 20 anos de idade. A produção narra as aventuras de uma esponja marinha e de seus amigos na Fenda do Biquíni. A popularidade da série a tornou uma franquia de mídia, bem como a animação/série de maior audiência Nickelodeon e a propriedade mais distribuída internacionalmente pela MTV Networks.

The latest new episode of Escola dos Youtubers will feature will feature mystery, animation, dancing and many surprises, among them, an appearance from SpongeBob SquarePants!

Escola dos Youtubers is a YouTube series that features popular young Portuguese YouTubers who go to class together. Angie Costa, Catarina Perez, Gabriel Ferreira, João Sousa, Paulo Sousa, and Mafalda Creative are just some of the stars of YouTube that are part of the cast.

Leading up to the debut of the all-new episode, fans can watch the show's previous episodes, “Regresso às Aulas”, “Halloween” and “Natal”, on the Nickelodeon Play app.

Nickelodeon Portugal was a key partner in the production of the “Baile de Finalistas” episode of Escola dos Youtubers.

As férias de julho vão ficar ainda mais divertidas para quem for ao Iguatemi Esplanada de 4 e 23 de julho. As crianças que acompanham a febre do momento poderão exercitar a imaginação no ‘Slime é Nick Experience’, que tem entrada gratuita e ficará montado na Praça de Eventos da Ala Norte do shopping.

O espaço criado pela Nickelodeon é repleto de atividades divertidas, lúdicas e interativas. O espaço será dividido em um circuito com quatro módulos que foi realizado para receber crianças de 5 a 13 anos de idade.

Alinhada com a febre que atingiu a criançada, a Nickelodeon, como criadora da “meleca verde”, convida os pequenos a personalizarem seu próprio slime de forma única. Desenvolvido pela agência Outra Praia, o circuito é formado por 4 etapas: ‘Elásticos Slime’, ‘LED Slime’, ‘Piscina de Slime’ e ‘Slime Lab’.

Uma das grandes atrações da experiência é a ‘Piscina de Slime’, onde a criançada poderá ter o primeiro contato com o Slime Nickelodeon Original, licenciado pela Asca Toys e já disponível em pontos de venda por todo o Brasil. Ao final, no ‘Slime Lab’, todos os pequenos ganharão uma amostra do Slime Nickelodeon Original, produzido pela Asca Toys, para personalizá-lo e levá-lo como recordação dessa inesquecível (e gosmenta) experiência.

Além de garantir muita diversão do início ao fim da maratona de brincadeiras, as crianças também poderão aproveitar para tirar fotos no ‘Tubo de Slime’ que se encontra na parte externa do circuito e uma incrível piscina de bolinhas para crianças de 3 a 13 anos de idade.

A entrada é gratuita e o público dever retirar sua senha, que é limitada à capacidade do espaço. As senhas serão entregues por ordem de chegada, podendo se esgotar antes mesmo do encerramento das atividades.

ELÁSTICOS SLIME

Nessa etapa, as crianças entram em um espaço cheio de elásticos verdes posicionados como se fosse um labirinto. O objetivo é conseguir alcançar a saída para conhecer o segundo ambiente.

LED SLIME

Uma sala cheia de LED verde irá simular o slime escorrendo nas paredes. Através de espelhos, a sensação visual é de que as crianças estão rodeadas de “meleca verde”.

Esta etapa conta com uma piscina de Slime Nickelodeon Original, by Asca Toys, onde as crianças podem colocar a mão, puxar e fazer fotos divertidas.
