Spencer, IA - The Clay County Fair and Events Center and Positively Spencer Youth (PSY) will host the ninth annual Family Fest from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Families can enjoy activities for all ages and learn what local businesses, groups and organizations can do for families. This year, Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) has partnered with Nickelodeon for a special meet and greet with Nick Jr. star Diego from Go, Diego, Go!

“With the past few weeks of winter weather, I know many families are ready to get out of the house,” Clay County Fair and Events Center CEO Jeremy Parsons said. “Family Fest is a perfect event to have some fun, learn some new things, and have a great day of family bonding.”

Other features include Spencer Kiwanis After Five Safety City, which will allow families to interact with local law enforcement, firefighters and EMT staff; Spencer Hospital’s “glow germ” hand washing activity; and the H.E.A.T. tactical vehicle.

ISU Extension and Outreach Clay County returns with exciting activities for 4-H Find-out Day, including bunny hopping and a petting zoo. Extension will also feature a FLEx Trailer and Bee-Bots.

STEM activities provided by Iowa Lakes Community College offers an exciting and fun way for kids to have a chance to learn about science, technology, engineering and math. There will also be a KidZone sponsored by Spencer Family YMCA that will have a number of activities including the popular gaga pit. This year’s KidZone will also feature an inflatable obstacle course.
