Things get ruff when Mayor Humdinger wants to find the treasure first for Foggy Bottom. The pups need all paws on deck for this pirate adventure, including help from the newest pup who's all ears…Tracker! Using their heroic rescue skills, problem solving and teamwork, the pups set sail to save the day. No job is too big, no pirate pup is too small!

Similar to PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue," which will continue to tour through 2018, the new show, PAW Patrol Live! The Auckland performances will be held at The Trusts Arena at 10am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th January 2019, while Hamilton's are set to take place at the same times in the Claudelands Arena on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th January 2019.

The New Zealand leg of the PAW Patrol Live! "The Great Pirate Adventure" tour follows the tour's hugely successful stop in Australia in May 2018.

Update (20/1/2019) - From Stuff.co.nz:

Paw Patrol live shows popular with pre-schoolers

No job is too big, no pup is too small!

It's a catch phrase bound to be echoing off the walls of Claudelands Event centre this weekend as the craze that is Paw Patrol hits town and thousands of children descend.

If you've got children under six you'll have undoubtedly heard of them - in fact you've probably stood on a Paw Patrol figurine, or two, left lying around your house.

For the uninitiated, Paw Patrol is a Canadian-made, Nickelodeon' franchise, animated TV show for pre-schoolers about a team of dogs protecting the seaside town of Adventure Bay.

Paw Patrol toys have been frequent "must haves" on Kiwi youngsters' Christmas lists for the last couple of years and the craze is alive and well in New Zealand.

Around 30,000 saw the shows when they were last in the country in 2017, with even more expected to see the pups this year for their new show, "The Great Pirate Adventure", which has already toured Auckland.

The pups will put on six shows in Hamilton this weekend.

The show's resident director Theresa Borg can clearly understand why the show is popular, especially with pre-school aged children.

"There are the pups which are adorable, pups and preschoolers really seem to go together," she said.

"They have lots of things in common, lots of action, lots of mischief, a tendency to get into scrapes and lots of laughter, lots of slapstick silliness. I think that is one reason the preschoolers really see themselves in the pups."

She's has seen the storylines connect with pre-schoolers in particular.

"I've noticed between the ages of three and six there are no more willing helpers than them - so they see the way they would like to help through the pups."

And its had worldwide impact.

"The other thing is that parents love paw patrol. We've noticed by travelling around the world that parents want similar things for their children: they want them to learn to co-operate; they want their children to respond when others need help; they want them to be active.

"It's really a brand that has very strong universal values and I think that is what has made Paw Patrol so popular all over the world."

It's not coming up with a storyline that is the hardest part of the live show, Borg concedes, but keeping the kids entertained.

"Children are a very honest audience and there can be no wasted time telling a children's story as if the story doesn't keep moving forward then the children are likely to be distracted.

And it's no small production with 13 cast members and six in the international crew on the road. But more than 200 people had been involved behind the scenes to bring the show to fruition.

It's a true test for the actors as well, Borg admits, as for many of the children it's their first time in a theatre or at a live performance.

"It's a great opportunity especially the younger cast members get to see how the audience feel about the show and that is a wonderful experience for an actor as the kids are continuously feeding back throughout the show and you don't often get that in a regular live show."

Paw Patrol! The Great Pirate Adventure is on in Hamilton this weekend.
