Nickelodeon Unveils Three New Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 Voting Categories [Updated]

Rob Gronkowski, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are among the nominees for the fifth annual show, while talent participants will include Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn and Michael Strahan.

Nickelodeon today unveiled three new voting categories for Kids’ Choice Sports 2018, giving kids the chance to vote for more of their sporting heroes!

Nick's three newly added KCS 2018 voting categories are: Biggest Kid, Most Valuable Most Valuable Player (no, that's not a typo) and Play Of The Year, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The nominees for each new category can be found below.

Hosted by Chris Paul, Houston Rockets’ point guard and former NBA All-Star MVP, Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 is the only show where kids celebrate their favorite athletes and the year’s most unforgettable sports moments in a superstar sports showdown.

The Kids' Choice Sports Awards also has a new airdate: The fifth annual ceremony will air Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (it will be taped live the day before from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.).

The Hollywood Reporter has also revealed that talent participants for Nickelodeon's annual sports awards will include professional snowboarder Shaun White, professional skier Lindsey Vonn, Michael Strahan, Double Dare's Liza Koshy and Marc Summers, Lip Sync Battle Shorties' JoJo Siwa, Knight Squad's Daniella Perkins and Owen Joyner are among the stars you will be able to see July 20.

Update (7/12): UFC fighter-turned-WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are also among the sports stars confirmed to be attending Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2018, next week, TheWrap reports!

Other athletes and entertainment stars to set attend — and no doubt get slimed — are P.K. Subban (NHL, Nashville Predators), Alex Morgan (NWSL, Orlando Pride), Antonio Brown (NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers), Alex and Maia Shibutani (professional figure skaters), and Dude Perfect (The Dude Perfect Show).

Nickelodeon's Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 awards will also see professional racecar driver Danica Patrick receive the Legend Award, which honors athletes who are the ultimate role models to kids across the globe, inspiring generations year after year. Patrick, who is the fifth athlete to receive this honor, joins a prestigious list of past recipients including most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps, five-time NBA Champion Kobe Bryant, soccer legend David Beckham and five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter.

Voting for Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 is open now! Kids can visit KCS2018.com to vote for your sporting heroes, plus find out the latest KCS 2018 news and info.
