Viacom Italia Posts €2.4 Million Profit

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Italia has ended its financial year to September 2016 with a profit of €2.4 million.

Revenues in the same period grew to €52.8 million, according to the recently approved financial report, whose results were published by business daily ItaliaOggi.

The highest contribution came from Nickelodeon (€13.7 million), followed by MTV (€12.7 million) and Comedy Central (€10 million).

Most of the revenue comes from advertising as well as from content supply agreements with Sky Italia, TIM Vision and Vodafone TV.

Viacom Italia operates numerous TV channels in Italy, aired both on digital satellite (Nickelodeon, Comedy Central are exclusive to pay-TV platform Sky Italia) and digital terrestrial (Paramount Channel, VH-1).

The broadcaster is forecasting an increase in advertising revenue during 2017, especially due to the success of the Paramount Channel that brought in €6.2 million.

According to ItaliaOggi, Viacom Italia has long been exploring the possibility of acquiring new terrestrial TV channels and reinforcing its presence in Italy by launching new FTA channels.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), is comprised of many of the world’s most popular multimedia entertainment brands, including MTV, MTV LIVE HD, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, Paramount Channel, and more.
