Good Smile Company Inc. Opens Preorders For "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Villain Bebop Statue

Official Nickelodeon Press Release via Action Figure Insider:

PREORDERS CURRENTLY OPEN FOR TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES VILLAIN BEBOP STATUE

The second in a series of four villains based on an original illustration from renowned artist James Jean.

TOKYO, FEBRUARY 13, 2017 – Good Smile Company Inc., premier Japanese collectible figure maker, announced that preorders are currently open for Bebop, the second collectible statue featuring the villains from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being created together with Nickelodeon. Bebop will be released in June 2017.

The popular series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles statues, first introduced in 2015, were based on an original illustration that came about when Takanori Aki, President and CEO of Good Smile Company, asked his good friend, well-known fine artist James Jean, if he wanted to collaborate on a new project.

“After the great time we had with James for our first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles statues, we asked him if he wanted to work together again to expand the series to add the iconic villains,” said Takanori Aki. James Jean returned with another original illustration featuring Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang. “The Turtles and the Villains have achieved a cult-like status, and I wanted the illustrations to capture the excitement I had as a kid seeing the characters battle in a world that seemed familiar yet was mutated by the best 80’s tropes and fueled by weird pizza.”

Bebop is now available for preorder at the GOODSMILE ONLINE SHOP and at participating retailers worldwide.
