Nickelodeon USA Named 2013's Most-Watched Ad-Supported Basic Cable Channel (Total Day Programming)

The entertainment news website TheWrap is reporting the exciting Nickelodeon News in the following article that, according to the Nielsen Company, a leading global information and measurement company which provides market research, insights and data about what people watch and what people buy, Nickelodeon USA was one of the most-watched ad-supported basic cable channels of 2013!


According to Nielsen, the American basic cable and satellite channel USA Network is the most-watched among basic cable channels in primetime (Monday through Sunday, 8pm-11pm) for the past year, averaging 2.4 million total viewers, with the professional wrestling television program "WWE Monday Night Raw" being the networks most popular series. ESPN, History, TBS and TNT round out the Top 5.

Nick USA snagged the number one spot of the list for total day programming (Monday through Sunday, 6am to 6am)! The US version of the world's number one kids' network earned 1.7 million average viewers, with Nick's original animated series (Nicktoon) series "SpongeBob SquarePants" being one of the networks most-watched shows.

Following Nick USA and USA Network in No. 2 are Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, the Fox News Channel and TNT round out the Top 5. Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon's nighttime programming block that features popular hit family comedies including the Emmy Award-winning series Friends, My Wife & Kids, George Lopez, The Nanny, Yes, Dear, See Dad Run and most recently, Instant Mom, snagged sixth place.

Nickelodeon and USA Network are the most-watched ad-supported basic cable channels of 2013.

According to Nielsen, USA Network is the most-watched among basic cable channels in primetime (Monday through Sunday, 8 p.m.-11 p.m.) for the past year, averaging 2.4 million total viewers. “WWE Monday Night Raw” is its most popular series.

ESPN, History, TBS and TNT round out the Top 5.

USA almost topped the list for total day programming (Monday through Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6 a.m.) as well, but Nickelodeon snagged the No. 1 spot. The youth-skewing network earned 1.7 million average viewers. “Spongebob Squarepants” is one of its most-watched shows.

Following Nick and USA in No. 2 were some interesting results: Adult Swim, Fox News Channel and TNT round out the Top 5. Notably, Nickelodeon offshoot, Nick at Nite, snagged sixth place.
