Netflix Acquires Global Rights To Jonathan M. Shiff Productions' "H2O: Just Add Water" Spin-Off Series, "Mako Mermaids"

Kidscreen's children's digital entertainment and media news website iKids is reporting the kids television news in the following article that the on-demand Internet streaming media provider Netflix has inked an exclusive deal with Australia's Jonathan M. Shiff Productions ("Lightning Point"/"Alien Surf Girls"), in association with Screen Australia, Network Ten, ZDF Enterprises and Screen Queensland, for "Mako Mermaids", a brand new 26 episode x 24-minute spin-off series of the popular Nickelodeon UK series "H2O – Just Add Water".

The first 13 episodes of the new adventure series, which continues the story of real-life teen mermaids Sirena, Nixie, and Lyla, will make their Netflix debut on Friday 26th July 2013 in all Netflix territories followed by the second half of the season in September 2013. Netflix aims to repeat the success of Jonathan M. Shiff's H2O – Just Add Water, a big hit for Netflix members in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and the Nordics. The series is now seen in more than 160 territories worldwide. The addition of the original Mako Mermaids series comes on the heels of the recent Netflix deal with DreamWorks that will see DreamWorks develop more than 300 hours of original content exclusively for the internet streaming service:

Adding to its growing kids content library, Netflix has inked an exclusive deal with Australia’s Jonathan M. Shiff Productions, in association with Screen Australia, Network Ten, ZDF Enterprises and Screen Queensland, for Mako Mermaids, a new 26 x 24-minute spin-off series of live actioner H2O – Just Add Water.
