TVI adopts Turtles

Portuguese broadcaster TVI will launch a children’s block with shows such as CGI series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles after signing a content deal with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN).

TVI will pick up a host of Nickelodeon programming that will air in a co-branded block called Kid Kanal.

The package includes SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Kung Fu Panda and Winx Club.

Kid Kanal, which represents the first deal of this kind for VIMN in Portugal, will air on Saturdays and Sundays for two hours a day, beginning in November.

Meanwhile, Turkish broadcaster CNBC-e has renewed its Nickelodeon block, including new seasons and specials of shows including Dora, FairlyOdd Parents, iCarly and Penguins of Madagascar.

The new Turtles series has previously been sold to broadcasters including ITV in the UK.
