TV Animation News: Global Sales Update

The following article spotlights news items regarding TV animation sales announced during the months of July and August 2012. A Canadian original production about a boy's vivid imagination (Justin Time), Nickelodeon's venture to the bottom of the ocean for preschool readiness (Bubble Guppies), and a CG series about song, dance, and camaraderie (Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps), among several others, have made their way to new viewing territories in recent weeks.

Already well into its second season is the fantasy cartoon Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, which started debuting said second season on Channel 5 (UK) in mid-July 2012. The animated series, produced by London's AstleyBakerDavies, introduces young viewers into a tiny world guided by the insights of Ben, an elf, and Holly, a fairy. eOne Family, which manages Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, has secured promotional and licensing support through the autumn season for stage performances, apps, apparel, and more. A regular timeslot is scheduled for Nick Jr. UK later this year as well [Nick Jr. UK already airs "Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom"]. eOne Family orchestrated a number of television sales earlier this year.

Olive the Ostrich

Sprout (U.S.) acquired the animated series Olive the Ostrich in late August 2012. The preschool cartoon, which currentlyairs in the UK and Canada, is about a busy family of ostriches and the daughter, Olive, who adores traveling to new places and learning new things (by sticking her head in the sand and ultimately popping up somewhere else and somewhere new). The indie artists of Blue-Zoo Animation Studio (London, England) produced Olive the Ostrich in association with the UK's Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts ["Olive the Ostrich" is currently show regularly on Nick Jr. UK and Ireland].
