Nickelodeon USA Orders Three Brand New Comedy Shows For Nick Jr. Channel USA's NickMom Programming Strand

US cablenet Nickelodeon has ordered three comedies for its upcoming primetime programming block NickMom, as it continues to target parental audiences.

The NickMom block launches on Nick Jr this fall and will mix long- and shortform content, sketch comedy and hidden-camera shows.

The new series are The Judi & Kate Show (working title), Parental Discretion With Stephanie Wilder Taylor (wt) and What Carol Brady Thinks (wt). The net has already announced 26-episode stand-up series NickMom Night Out for the block.

“Nickelodeon has built a strong relationship with moms over the years, and we see a great opportunity to serve them with content just for them with NickMom,” said Bronwen O’Keefe, senior VP of NickMom.

Twenty-episode series The Judi & Kate Show will be executive produced by Coolfire Originals and stars two mother bloggers from St Louis. Parent Discretion, at 26 episodes, will mix studio elements with interviews, video commentary and sketches all exploring parenting. Comedian Wilder Taylor executive produces with Hugh Fink.

What Carol Brady Thinks, meanwhile, will explore the inner workings of the iconic Brady Bunch matriarch. Jim Burns executive produces.

In related news, Nickelodeon’s Viacom stablemate VH1 has ordered a second season of its celebrity send-up sketch comedy Stevie TV, which New Wave Entertainment produces.

NICKMOM’S three new series pick-ups are:

* The Judi & Kate Show (20 episodes) - A real-life, modern-day Laverne and Shirley, these two mom video bloggers from St. Louis have a lot to say, and the worldwide web is listening. The Judi & Kate Show is a show within a show, which goes inside their world for their unique take on motherhood. Executive produced by Coolfire Originals (Welcome to Sweetie Pies).

* Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder Taylor (26 episodes) - This new show blends studio elements, interviews, video commentary, monologues and panel discussions with field pieces including hidden camera, mom on the street and sketch comedy. Each episode explores a different element of parenting, all through the irreverent and funny eyes of author and comedienne Stefanie Wilder Taylor. Executive produced by Hugh Fink and Stefanie Wilder Taylor.

* What Carol Brady Thinks (26 episodes) - Through graphic overlays on top of the original series, viewers go inside the mind of one of the most iconic moms of all time, Carol Brady. Finally, the chance to celebrate this mom who did it all and looked great doing it. Executive Produced by Jim Burns.

Nickelodeon previously announced NickMom Night Out (26 episodes), a stand-up comedy series that takes mom out for a night at the comedy club from the comfort of her own couch. Featured comedians include Judy Gold, Corey Kahaney, B Phlat and Dena Blizzard, all offering their humorous takes on the joy and pain of parenting. Executive produced by Bob Mittenthal.

The NICKMOM nightly TV block, launching this fall on Nick Jr., will feature a mix of original long- and short-form programming, including talk shows, stand-up and sketch comedy, hidden camera and more.
